How do I get there?
Several international carriers fly to either San Jose or Liberia daily from destinations inside the United States and elsewhere. The hotel has a private airstrip serviced by two domestic air carriers, Sansa and Nature Air. Also private charters can be arranged with the hotel from either San Jose or Liberia. Most people arriving in San Jose spend the night there and fly to the hotel’s private air strip the next morning. A car ride from San Jose is between 4 ½ and 6 hours. While interesting, it is generally not preferred by first time guests. Guests arriving in Liberia can be met by a private car, arranged through the hotel and driven to Punta Islita the same day. Guests can also rent a car and drive themselves. The trip from Liberia is about 2 ½ hours.

What to pack?
While the resort is an elegant and delightful place, nobody wears a coat and tie. Shorts, swimsuits and sandals are more the usual outfits to wear.
Shopping
The hotel and several local shops provide basic necessities. The work of local artisans and cultural pieces are available for purchase, but this is not a shopping destination.
Do we have to cook our own meals?
The villa has a fully equipped kitchen, however most of our guests don’t use it relying on the hotel’s 5 star restaurant, beach club and golf course restaurants or one of the several local restaurants. The hotel stocks the refrigerator with typical mini-bar items, however you can make arrangements, in advance of your stay for a wide range of typical groceries delivered directly to the villa and waiting for you when you arrive.
What is the night life?
Hotel Punta Islita is not ina a city, so shopping and night life are limited to what the resort can provide. Ticos (Costa Ricans) tend to dine after sunset and meals are leisurely and enjoyable experiences. Guests can arrange dor dinner on the beach, at the beach club, in the hotel’s restaurant or can make arrangements to watch the sunset at the Monkey Bar with dinner to follow. The hotel offers almost daily dinner experiences and frequent evening programs for children and teens during the typical resort season. In addition both hotel and villa have satellite tv and a wide variety of games, dvd’s and video tapes.
Do I need a car?
The villa is about 700 feet above the ocean and about a 10 minutes walk to the main hotel facilities. We provide a golf cart, which can comfortably accommodate 4 people and is appropriate for use around the resort. Larger groups can rent an additional golf cart or anyone can arrange with the hotel for a car rental delivered to your villa for some or all of your stay.
